Undergraduate Programs

Lincoln University College’s undergraduate programmes ensure that students become efficient in all parts of the hospitality and tourism sector, enhancing their earning potential, and providing a strong basis for future advancement. Students receive industry-specific abilities in addition to specialised information that may be applied to any career position. Students can also get hands-on experience with hotel administration and accommodation operations by participating in interactive, visually engaging simulations. We are currently running the following courses successfully under this faculty:

A. CONVENTIONAL

1. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Hospitality Management

The Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Hospitality Management program offers knowledge and competencies, to students, who have chosen a career in this service industry. Students may select either hotel or tourism specialization. The experiential learning, project-based approach and practical training will provide students with the necessary competencies to function effectively as leaders in the industry.

Duration: 36 Months

 

2. Bachelor in Tourism Management

The Bachelor in Tourism Management programme under the Faculty of Hospitality is designed to give students’ academic and technical skills in broad areas. It combines the precise training in international relations theory and practice with the analytical and quantitative tools of policy making. The programme teaches students a wide range of educational field, the tourism industry in strategic planning and management, event management, tourism marketing, culture, and heritage tourism and in other fields including human resources and marketing. The programme is designed as a transformative program, which offers students the education, training, and first-hand experience essential for successful international careers. This enables the programme to meet its broader objectives to touch every aspect of global tourism industry. There are many organizations and industries that are direct contributors of the industry and hence in the long run create better job opportunities to those who would want to be a part of the industry.

3. Diploma in Culinary Arts

The Diploma in Culinary Arts is a well-balanced programme designed to impart knowledge in the hospitality particularly in culinary area. This programme provides students with practical education in food production while developing professionalism and excellence required in different types of kitchens. Student can gain practical experience in the kitchen with other related discipline like business of cost control, sanitation and safety, menu and beverage management, nutrition, and kitchen management. Student will learn to produce food quickly and in quantity while working with others. The programme combines the precise training in international relations theory and practice with the analytical and quantitative tools of policy making. This is designed as a trans formative program, which offers students the education, training, and first-hand experience essential for successful international careers.

4. Diploma in Hotel Management

The program, Diploma in Hotel Management prepares the students for a rewarding career in the hotel industry. It comprises sound theory and craft-based learning (practical classes) with professional internships within the industry. It aims at providing students with the appropriate operational skills for rooms division, reception services, food and beverage service management as well as food production and also focuses on the development of a professional attitude for a career in the hotel industry. After completion of the Hotel Management Diploma, students can either continue their studies to complete the Bachelor degree or they can start their professional career at this stage.

B. ODL

1. Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Hospitality Management

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Hospitality Management program offers knowledge and competencies, to students, who have chosen a career in this service industry. Students may select either hotel or tourism specialization. The experiential learning, project-based approach and practical training will provide students with the necessary competencies to function effectively as leaders in the industry.

2. Diploma in Hotel Management

The program, Diploma in Hotel Management at Lincoln University College, is a great preference for those with a flair for thoughts and the professional drive essential to keep an institution at the top of the industry. The program will provide the students with a complete overview of the restaurant, hotel, and resort industry, from housekeeping to kitchen production procedures, so they will have a firm knowledge of day-to-day businesses in a hotel or restaurant. The program has been crafted to provide the students with the competitive gain to be universally ready to work in an international economy.

Postgraduate Programs

Lincoln University College’s postgraduate programmes equip students with the information and skills they need to succeed in the ever-changing and competitive business world, particularly in the hospitality and tourist industry. The programmes educate students to take on a variety of mid-level service management and training director roles. The curriculum emphasises service and innovation, as well as leadership roles in a variety of service and corporate contexts, as well as at post-secondary educational institutions. The following courses are presently being taught by this faculty:

A. CONVENTIONAL

1. Doctor of Philosophy (PH.D.) in Tourism and Hospitality Management

The Doctor of Philosophy (PH.D.) in Tourism and Hospitality Management program of Lincoln University College, Malaysia (LUC) is designed to be one of the strongest research-based programs in the world. The program, which includes a strong element of statistics and research design, prepares students for careers in major research universities or research-based agencies. Upon graduation, students are expected to have a curriculum vitae which includes teaching experience, publishing experience in research journals, and a record of presentations to industry and research societies. From uncovering the environmental, social, and economic impacts of tourism to investigating theories and models of services marketing and management, students use their time to make powerful connections between ideas and contribute scholarly research.

Duration
Full Time: 36 – 60 Months
Part Time: 48 – 120 Months

2. Master in Tourism Management

Master in Tourism Management in Lincoln University College program prepares professional with advance knowledge of the tourism business to encompass best practice management strategies, ecotourism and sustainable business perspectives. The tourism industry is a rapidly growing industry and contributes highly to the economic enhancement of the country and generates employment opportunities, besides contributing to the growth, especially in a developing country like Malaysia. This program provides students with the fundamental knowledge concerning tourism marketing communication, human resources management, financial management, destination planning, and prospects in the tourism industry. Core modules included in this program are Tourism Principle & Practices, Destination Planning & Management, Tourism Marketing Communication and International Tourism Business. It encourages students for leadership positions with the development of systematic understanding, decision making and communication skills in the international tourism and hospitality industry that empowers them with management skills to implement sustainable tourism strategies and corporate social responsibilities.

For successful completion of Masters degree in LUC, each candidate should publish minimum of Two research articles in Scopus indexed journals, with Lincoln affiliation.

Full Time: Minimum – 18 Months, Maximum – 36 Months
Part Time: Minimum – 36 Months, Maximum – 60 Months

 

3. Master of Business Administration in Hospitality Management

Lincoln University College offers the program, MBA in Hospitality Management for students, who wish to pursue a career in this field. Our program focuses on the acquiring of the basic essential knowledge as well as practical skills, by the students as it would help them to emerge as entrepreneurs or marketing leaders in this fast-growing hospitality industry.

Our program also allows the students to acquire information about strategic business and marketing skills, operational issues, service issues and other relevant aspects related to the hospitality industry.

For successful completion of Masters degree in LUC, each candidate should publish minimum of Two research articles in Scopus indexed journals, with Lincoln affiliation.

Duration: 18 Months

B. ODL

1. Master of Business Administration in Hospitality Management

MBA in Hospitality program focuses on the acquiring of the basic essential knowledge as well as practical skills, by the students as it would help them to emerge as entrepreneurs or marketing leaders in this fast-growing hospitality industry.

Our program also allows the students to acquire information about strategic business and marketing skills, operational issues, service issues and other relevant aspects related to the hospitality industry.

The delivery mode of the program is Open and Distance Learning, so it will be very useful for the students who are working and willing to pursue higher study.

Maximum Duration: 24 Months
